The Museum at FIT에서 처음으로 Luxury를 주제로 그 의미가 패션 역사를 되짗어보며 어떻게 변화해왔는지 살펴보는 전시를 5월 23일부터 다음달 11월 10일까지 열리고 있다.
정치적으로 사치가 팽배했던 18세기를 돌아보는것으로 시작하는데 luxury를 지나치게 도덕적으로 부패한 의미로 바라보는것이 아니라 나라의 부에 기여할 수 있는 긍정적인 파워로 인식하는 것으로 점점 그 의미가 시대에 따라서 달라졌다.
150여점의 작품들이 18세기의 가장 귀족적인 럭셔리 패션에서부터 현대의 Worth, Poiret, Chanel, Dior, Balenciaga등의 디자이너들의 의상과 Hermès, Lanvin, Chanel등의 액세서리까지 선보인다.
