뉴욕 소호에 위치한 갤러리에서 Stefan Sagmeister의 전시가 1월 31일부터 2월 23일까지 Things I Have Learned In My Life So Far라는 이름아래 열렸다. 이 전시와 함께 그가 쓴 같은 제목의 책의 출판도 같은 시기 이루어졌다.
1962년 오스트리아 브레겐츠 태생인 스테판 세그마이스터는 비엔나 응용미술대학에서 그래픽 디자인을 전공했으며 1987년에 뉴욕으로 옮겨와 풀브라이트 장학금으로 프랫 대학교를 졸업했다. 현재는 뉴욕에서 가장 진보적인 디자이너로 평가받고 있는 작가적 성향의 디자이너이다.
그 는 국제적인 그래픽 회사와 광고 에이전시에서 크리에이티브 실무와 사업 경영을 두루 경험한 후 독자적인 스튜디오를 설립해 활동하면서 이제는 세계적인 스타 디자이너로서 성장해 있다. 그의 화려한 경력과 천재적 작품성향은 현대의 디자이너들이 꿈꾸는 성공한 디자이너의 전형이라 해도 과언이 아니다.
